I always look forward to Mary Meeker's annual Internet Trends report, and this year was no different. One thing that comes that comes through is the amazing pace of new data that is being generated on the Internet:
As well as mobile as the input and output for much of this data:
The interesting thing about both trends is that NoSQL databases are criticallly important to both. MongoDB, in particular, is the leading NoSQL database for mobile applications. It's not hard to guess why: MongoDB's rich data model and flexible schema allows application developers to take on an impressive array of different data sources and update them on the fly, all while enabling impressive scale.
In sum, all the trends are pointing in the right direction for NoSQL.
