MongoDB is thrilled to announce the certification of the MongoDB Hadoop Connector on Hortonworks latest release, HDP 2.1. Customers now have validation from both MongoDB, Inc. and Hortonworks that the connector is a customer-friendly way to integrate your operational and analytical datastores. This solidifies the already existing partnership between MongoDB and Hortonworks.
MongoDB and Hadoop are complementary technologies. MongoDB is the real-time operational database which powers modern day applications. Hadoop is for rich analysis that can be conducted on data that originated from MongoDB, in addition to other data sources. Through the integration live, operational data from MongoDB can be snapshotted into Hortonworks’ Hadoop-based data lake. The data can be analyzed and then be passed back to MongoDB to improve the customer experience, e.g., displaying personalized content for online shoppers.
What does it mean to be certified? The MongoDB Hadoop Connector was reviewed by Hortonworks’ engineers for architectural best practices, validated against a comprehensive suite of integration test cases, benchmarked for scale under varied workloads and comprehensively documented. To cut to the chase, it works and it works great.
